Opening up due to an environmental trigger, the scals of serotinous pinecones expand and reflex in order to disperse seeds, usually in response to an increase in humidity and temperature. This lamp signifies plant movement behaviour in the way that each 'scale' can be zipped open and closed, letting out varying amounts of light.
